Iam's Story
Iam Grym spent most of his juvenile years in and around the piers of the South Dock District of the City of Rastgoth. Some of his favorite pastimes were fishing and swimming with his little brother Ian. And once in a while one of the local captains would take them out on a ship for short trips. Iam's father permitted this because he knew most of the captains that frequented the port and stored goods in his warehouse.
All this changed about six months ago when their father's warehouse burned to the ground and their parents were found murdered in their home. Fearing for their brother's life, the two have made the shipyards their temporary new home. Hiding during the day and coming out at night to look for a meal, Iam helped his brother survive for weeks. Iam feared that his parents' murders were looking for the two boys as well. He hoped to hire on with one of the captains and move himself and his brother to another city.
Before he could complete his plan, he was taken, and – he fears - his brother was killed [he wasn't]. He didn't see the attack coming. One moment they were hiding from the watch, a stolen meal in their stomachs, the next, he was waking up in the hold of a galley chained to a bunk.
