Description
Background
J.P. (Jeffery Peter) Woodson II was born and raised in a logging town near the Silver Forest. His mother, Sorandil, is the primary housekeeper and a layperson [low level priestess] at the local shrine to a local nature deity. His father was a captain in the King's army and is now head of the local militia. He has an older sister, Darana, and a younger brother, Jeirin.
During his youth, JP, Darana, and Jeirin would often go exploring in the Silver Forest. His sister was quite knowledgable about the flora and fauna and Jeirin was an excellent tree climber. The three of them seldom bacame lost because of JP's knack for direction.
JP was about 11 when King Halfred was assasinated. His father was called to active duty during the Civil War and was away from home on and off for two years. After the Civil War, his father was called to lead several reconnaissance missions into land held by the Mirvian army. He was again gone on and off for two years, with the longest period being a full year. JP was 16 in the spring of 759 when his fater returned. Darana was 18 and had just left home to study with the Druids of the Silver Forest. Jeirin was 15 and often in trouble.
JP's father had years worth of stories. Most involved travelling long distances, many included fights with monsters (lizard men, bugbears, and other humanoids), and a few even included magical creatures (dragons and giants). These stories were a seed that JP had unknowingly planted.
After about two more years of staying at home, exploring the forest (often alone because his sister was gone and Jeirin was who knows where), and daydreaming of adventure, the seed he planted some time back sprouted. With his parent's permission (and a bit of money), JP gathered some belongings and headed to Rastgoth. He had never seen the sea, and that sounded like a good place to start.
After spending a week and a half in "the big city," his adventure began (not like he intended, but nonetheless it began).
JP is the captain of the Black Dragon and the de facto leader of the the Crew of the Black Dragon, an adventuring group based in Rastgoth.
