History of Zoltan Stahvo, Invoker Extrordinaire
Zoltan is the second son of Gregor Stahvo and Ceil Uneska. Gregor is a Tilthian Merchant who wed the wealthy daughter of a Giorandian shopkeeper, while travelling to Giorand. Ceil's Father, Unus, did not mind taking Gregor's money, but balked at Gregor romancing his daughter. Gregor had Ceil take her Father's dowry and run away with him on his Consortium's merchant vessel. They were eventually married in Tilth where they reside today. The Consortium lost a valuable contact in Giorand, and the three leaders decided to discipline Gregor. He will never be trusted to trade for them outside the lands of Tilth ever again. If he acts as a free agent or for another Consortium of interest outside of Tilth, they will make his life miserable. Thus, Gregor has lived out his days dreaming of lands he can never visit.
Gregor helps organize over land convoys. His wife Ceil had three children, she died during the birth of their third child. Fortuga is Zoltan's eldest brother. He is loud, big, and bellicose. He has studied the fighting arts and hopes to rise in the ranks of trade. Zoltan is the second brother, and has never thought much of his elder brother. Zoltan's brain is to him as Fortuga's brawn. There were many days when Fortuga would beat little Zoltan up for his witty remarks. The youngest boy was Ermand. Gregor would have nothing to do with him, since his prescence was a reminder of Ceil's death. After the death of their Mother the three boys were raised by Gregor's spinster sister Katrina. Eventually Gregor would come to spend time with the three boys. They were each given chances to hone their minds and bodies in a private school. Zoltan's interests lay in the mystical arts. He wanted to master the most powerful spells to show everyone his innate superiority. When I say everyone, I mostly mean his thugish brother.
Fortuga excelled in riding and fighting. Ermand was very withdrawn and found much comfort in being outdoors and reading poetry. Gregor held little hope of Ermand becoming a real man, though Katrina has a soft spot for the lad.
When Fortuga came ofage at 16, he was apprenticed to a Captain of the guard for a small caravan in the service of Gregor's Consortium. When Zoltan came of age hewas apprenticed to a seafaring mage who had need of an apprentice. It is thought when Ermand comes of age he may be apprenticed to a scriviner.
That is how Zoltan came to be in the Pirate Isles.
